Flood relief

PKP Energetyka S.A. not only contributes to remedying flood damages caused to the rail network, but also actively participates in community actions providing relief to individuals affected most by flood damage.

One of such actions relates to the construction of a three-storeyed residential building for flood victims who lost their houses. A million-PLN-investment, to be completed in Sandomierz at ul. Schninzla, has been initiated by the Kielce-based housing developer, Mr Ryszard Grzyb, and his business partners. PKP Energetyka S.A. The Świętokrzyski Regional Plant also contributes to this project. The company will carry out a complete electrical system free of charge. Construction works are to begin in July, and the first residents can move in December, probably before Christmas.

”We wish to support the initiative by Mr Ryszard Grzyb by contributing our efforts, as well as express solidarity with all the people who lost all their property” says Bogdan Mazur, Director of PKP Energetyka S.A. Świętokrzyskie Regional Plant – ”This is our aid to the flood victims in Sandomierz”

PKP Energetyka S.A. has also been involved in aid for the city and the community of Sandomierz. PKP Energetyka S.A. decided to participate in the reconstruction of the Centre for Culture and Recreation, sharing efforts with municipal authorities. The company will replace a switchboard, electrical systems and an indoor lighting system. The works are to begin in early August.

”We are glad to help rebuild such a charming town as Sandomierz” says Waldemar Wieleba, Director of PKP Energetyka S.A. Lubelskie Regional Plant – ”We are involved in rebuilding a unique place, with great value to local community, which is the Centre for Culture and Recreation. We hope that our efforts will not only restore the Centre but also improve the quality of life of each and every resident of Sandomierz.”

”I am very proud of my co-workers” says Tadeusz Skobel, President of the Management Board of PKP Energetyka S.A. ”They showed initiative and commitment in the face of disaster and involved themselves in providing relief. I know that they made construction of the residential building for flood victims and rebuilding the Centre for Culture and Recreation their top priority. I am happy with so much great spirit, which emerges in such difficult times. It proves that solidarity is not an empty word.”
