PKP Energetyka signed an agreement with Polska Spółka Gazownictwa

PKP Energetyka, one of the six leading companies selling and distributing electric energy, signed a gas distribution agreement with Polska Spółka Gazownictwa. The agreement brings the company one step closer to the start of selling gas. Establishment of the partnership is implementation of the company’s strategic goal – a multi-energy offer, covering the sales of electric energy, gas and energy-related services.

The first phase of the company’s formal preparation for starting the selling of gas was obtaining a gas fuel trading concession from the Energy Sector Regulatory Authority (ERSA) in October 2013. Another phase was signing the distribution agreement with Industrial System Operator (OSP TSO Gaz System). The signing of the distribution agreement with Polska Spółka Gazownictwa is, next to the tariff approval procedure , the last key phase in the process of allowing the start of sales of gas to business customers nationwide.

”Our offer will be competitive and attractive, both in terms of price and formal and legal requirements. A combination of gas and electricity in a single package allows to meet the customer’s need for the optimization of costs of utilities. We believe that our new offer is welcome by the market, as “blue” fuel is currently used by many of our present customers, and it will also allow the acquisition of new contracts, strengthening our position outside of the railway market” said Wojciech Szwankowski, member of the Management Board of PKP Energetyka S.A.

The company is currently implementing changes in the organisational structure and business model, in preparation for selling gas. PKP Energetyka plans to build on their strengths, i.a. sales office and customer service centres in the 15 largest cities in Poland, and long standing relationships with large customers in, among others, production and commerce.”

”In the coming months, we plan to begin sales to our customers. Presently, we are at the pre-launch stage, which is the approval of the tariffs by the Energy Sector Regulatory Authority. Following such approval we will have satisfied all formal and legal requirements to start sales” adds Wojciech Szwankowski
