Anniversary of the Warsaw Club

It has been one year since the establishment of the Polish Red Cross Honourable Blood Donors Club attached to PKP Energetyka S.A. in Warszawa. That occasion, falling on Friday, January 29th, will be celebrated at the Company Head Office, by meeting of blood donors and the Management Board.

“I am grateful to the employees – members of the Honourable Blood Donors Club for their civil attitude” says Grzegorz Grabowski, member of the Management Board, Sales Director of PKP Energetyka S.A. “I am honourable blood donor myself, because I know the value of blood for those in need. It is a gift than anyone can share.”

Presently, the Warsaw Club has 46 members (there were 14 of them at the founding meeting). In Q1 2009, 26 Club members donated 11,690 ml of blood. In Q2, it was 12,750 ml, in Q3 – 10,500 ml and in Q4 – 15,850 ml. In total, Club members donated 50,790 ml of blood, and associated persons 820,368 ml of blood.

On 23 November 2009, the blood donation event was held at the company’s head office. 50 persons, among them 19 Club members, donated blood during the event.

The Club in Warsaw was founded on 6 January 2009, initiated by Konrad Tuliński, member of the Management Board, Technical Director at PKP Energetyka S.A. and Waldemar Lisek, then Director of PKP Energetyka S.A. – Mazowiecki Regional Plant (presently Director of Distribution Division).

In June 2009, PKP Energetyka S.A. signed an agreement with the Polish Red Cross. Under the agreement, Honourable Blood Donor Clubs were established at 8 company regional plants, grouping 278 employees. They donated 192 litres of blood in total.

PKP Energetyka S.A. is the power enterprise with a nationwide presence, in operation since 2001. Isolated from railway structures, the company is presently an active stakeholder in Poland’s electricity market. They deal with the sales and distribution of electricity (traction power for railway operators and non-traction power for other customers, supplied via
direct service connections or according to the TPA principle) and the provision of electric power services. PKP Energetyka S.A. caters to approximately 45,000 customers, including 37,000 institutional customers, over 7,000 thousand individual customers and 25 railway operators. During the first six months of 2009, the company sold a total of 1,729 GWh of electricity.
