Railway services of PKP Group prepared for strong winds

Infrastructure manager, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., set up work teams to organise operations in unfavourable weather conditions, prepared additional diesel locomotives, snow removal equipment, launched technical duty and maintenance train duty details. PLK maintains direct contact with railway operators, in order to keep passenger information up to date. In case of traction network damage due to wind, 19 additional diesel locomotives will be deployed, substituting electric locomotives. Contractors responsible for the removal of snow from platforms and passages were obligated to ensure a sufficient number of personnel.

PKP Energetyka increased the number of maintenance trains on 24/7 duty, fitted with tool repair equipment for structures and traction network repairs, from 60 to 70.

PKP Intercity is prepared to launch a substitute means of transport. In case of changes in timetables, launching a substitute means of transport or necessary transfer, ticket inspectors will notify passengers of alternative ways of continuing the journey. Passengers on locked PKP Intercity trains (with bar cars) will receive hot drinks.
