PKP Energetyka in the debate on the security of the supply of raw materials energy

On July 23rd, a debate on how to improve the security of the supply of raw resources and energy in Poland was held at the headquarters of the Polish Press Agency. Additionally, the discussion concerned the aspect of the gas stock exchange and the exchange obligation. PKP Energetyka S.A. was represented by Commercial Director Wojciech Szwankowski, a member of the Management Board.

Wojciech Szwankowski provided an example of PKP Energetyka S.A. as an entity that acquired a lucrative contract upon entry into the market and now is negotiating a dozen other agreements.  Director Szwankowski also drew attention to barriers which are likely to be encountered by enterprises entering into the freed-up gas market, including, but not limited to, a complicated tariffing process. If the tariffing process on the gas market was not strict, the creation of price offers without tariffs would be much easier, for example, for the dual fuel model, which will soon become a market standard among energy sellers. The possibility of offering electricity and gas in a package without tariffing the largest consumers would certainly contribute to market development.”

Among other participants, the debate was attended byJanusz Piechociński (Minister of the Economy), Maciej Bando (President of the Energy Regulatory Office), Jan Krzysztof Bielecki (Chairman of the Economic Council), Jerzy Kurella (Deputy President of PGNiG) and Ireneusz Łazor (President of TGE). The participants referred to recommendations after this year’s IV European Financial Congress. During the first part of the meeting with our company present, new directions for gas import, development of the gas pipeline network and exchange trading – viewed as opportunities for the common Union’s gas market – were discussed. The session was held by the Polish Press Agency in cooperation with Gdańsk Banking Academy.
