PKP Energetyka S.A. acquires the first dual fuel customer – Luvena

PKP Energetyka S.A. has signed the first contract for electricity sales under the dual fuel offer. It is Luvena which has become a customer of the fifth electricity seller.  This fertiliser manufacturer will purchase 30 GWh of gas and 15 GWh of electricity under the contract by the end of 2015.

As one of the first companies in the group of the largest power enterprises in Poland, PKP Energetyka S.A. has launched the dual fuel offer. Luvena is another major consumer of this blue fuel from PKP Energetyka S.A. since the company’s debut on the gas market.

”The contract concluded with Luvena is an effect of our company’s development in new business segments. Once we initiated business on the gas market, we were able to launch sales of energy through the dual fuel offer. This a promising service and our current as well as new customers have started to appreciate its potential. We are more and more active on this market; we conduct talks with other companies interested in the package combining electricity and gas. We want to become one of dual fuel sale leaders in Poland within a few years,” said Wojciech Szwankowski, member of the Management Board of PKP Energetyka S.A. ”Dual fuel provides companies with real business benefits from easier invoicing to the generation of savings,” added Wojciech Szwankowski.

As one of leading manufacturers of fertilisers and chemicals, Luvena is a large consumer of electricity and gas. The energy purchased in the package from PKP Energetyka S.A. will allow the company to optimise operating activities and reduce business costs.

”We hope to establish a long-term partnership with PKP Energetyka. The dual fuel offer is something that we have been looking for on the market a long period of time. With this service, combining two products so important from the viewpoint of our business profile, we will be able to reduce production costs,” said Grzegorz Zagozda, Luvena’s President of the Management Board.

The market survey conducted by PKP Energetyka S.A. shows that more and more energy consumers want to use duel fuel. The survey concludes that as many as 70% of small, medium-sized and large enterprises prefer to purchase two utilities in one package.
